Smena-35

Smena-35 is essentially the same Smena-8m but in a different body. There are no significant differences between the two cameras.

Smena-35 is a Soviet camera made by the LOMO association since 1990. This camera is a restyled modification of the legendary Smena-8M camera in a new body with a hot shoe. But despite the fact that this is a modification of 8m Change, there are many interesting innovations in this camera.

Despite a strong change in appearance, almost all controls remained in their original places. Most of them are located on or around the lens.

The camera was equipped with a non-replaceable triplet T-43 4/40, lens that has become traditional for the Smena cameras. The minimum aperture is f 16.

The camera was also equipped with a leaf shutter with shutter speeds of 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250 and B. This shutter is also quite standard for Smena cameras, and almost all cameras of this brand were equipped with such a shutter.

As already mentioned, the camera had a hot shoe (the aforementioned Smena-8m had a cold shoe) but did not have a self-timer.

Smena-8m was a very small and lightweight camera, but the Smena-35 camera became even smaller. In order to reduce the cost of production (yes, the Soviet Union constantly tried to cheapen everything that could be cheapened.), all the metal and glass parts of the camera were replaced with plastic ones.

Like the previous cameras of this brand, Smena-35 does not have a mirror mechanism or rangefinder, respectively, focusing was carried out using the distance scale. Using the different scale, you could set the correct exposure. But a more experienced photographer could use for these purposes the classic numbers on the scales of distances and exposures.

Conclusion

As you can see, the camera has radically changed the look. In our opinion, the Smena-8m looked much more stylish and charismatic.

This camera has lost in style and charisma, but on the other hand, it has become exactly the camera that many people love. This is a very cheap camera that does everything you need from such a camera. At one time, it was a device with which families created their home photo archives, and now it is a camera that gives an interesting experience and no less interesting photographs.
